It’s not an official belly picture if Kelly isn’t standing in front of our door. Here is her belly at 32 Weeks and 6 days. I was a bit wishy-wershy (wishy-washy for those who don’t speak Pittsburgh) about what I think the sex is, but the more I see Kelly now, the more i think it might be a boy. There really isn’t any way for any of us to know, but I like to speculate and disagree with Kelly every chance I get.
Week 32 – We Take a Class, We See Some Things, We Almost Vomit
We were told it’d be a good idea to take a Child Birth Preparation class. So we signed up for one at the hospital where Kelly would be delivering. It also included a tour of the Maternity Unit, so we got to see where she would deliver, and then where she would recover and spend the few days at the hospital. The hospital is really nice and we were actually really happy with the Maternity Unit. So it at least takes away some of the anticipation/anxiety of where we need to go and what we need to do once the big day comes.
As for the class? Well, it was……interesting? I guess that would be a good word. They showed a lot of videos. I mean, we expected some breasts, but we saw A LOT of breasts. Obviously other female parts too. I mean, we all know where babies come from, so it’s only to be expected that a Child Birth Prep class would show you that. The teacher said the videos “weren’t anything too crazy” and that they were “PG rated.” The videos were NOT PG rated. So after all the breasts, I guess we feel as prepared as possible.
We did some exercises that showed Kelly how to deal with some of the pain and how to move around, and different positions to sit and stand in. We did some breathing exercises too. Overall, I’m glad we did it and it was a good experience for us. I don’t feel like any class is really going to “prepare” us. I’m sure we’ll still freak out when it happens, I’m sure we’ll rush to the hospital prematurely only to be sent home because it’s too soon. But one thing I do know for sure, we are now a lot more terrified than we were before the class.
The next class we’ll be taking is a Breastfeeding class. Yeah, probably won’t see any breasts in that one.
Week 32 – We Have Furniture
The furniture for the baby’s room arrived on Saturday (we also had a new water meter installed, but that’s less exciting). It really looks great. Kristin and Ryan came over and helped Kelly and I wash all of the baby clothes and get everything in order and put away. I mostly watched the Rangers game, but I was physically present. So I think in terms of room preparation, we are in pretty good shape. Ryan wore no pants for 50% of the day. He spent the remaining 50% yelling “Ha Da,” which apparently means, Hot Dog. He was rather disappointed when he indeed did NOT receive, a Ha Da. Here are some furniture pics:
Week 31 – Kelly is Showered Yet Again
Kelly is 31 weeks today. Our phone app says the baby measures 16 inches long and weighs as much as a coconut. Kelly’s friends from work surprised her with a baby shower at the office. So barring any more surprises, NOW her showers are completed. She got some more great gifts. They also had a cake which one of her friends baked. Some pictures below:
Week 32 – Sonogram
Kelly had a follow up sonogram on Wednesday to make sure everything was where it was supposed to be. Piglet is weighing in at 4 pounds and 2 ounces. The pregnancy app says it should be 3.75 pounds, so he’s a little above average. The nurse said the baby was in the 54% percentile for height and weight, so she said everything looks great and Kelly was cleared for a regular delivery. We got another 3D ultrasound and got to see his face. We also got to see him move his arms and make some funny faces. This was the best picture we got, he kind of looks like me. Kelly disagrees and says he has her lips. I don’t see it.
Week 31 – Mia Makes Her First Comunion
Our niece Mia made her First Communion this Saturday in Staten Island. She did so great. She looked absolutely beautiful and we had such a great time with everyone. It was also the same weekend as Mother’s Day so Sunday we spent the day in Brooklyn with my mom. We had a great time and got to spend the day with both of our nieces. Kelly is looking great. Feeling a little tired, but doing great. Some pics below:
Alexa seemed unimpressed with the Communion. She did, however, very much enjoy a balloon we gave her at lunch.
Week 30 – Kelly’s Brooklyn Shower
Kelly had another beautiful shower in Brooklyn thrown by Joe’s mom and sister. Much like Pittsburgh, she was showered with lots of love and even more gifts for our little one. Joe was in another room at the restaurant showering himself in tomato sauce. Some pics below of our moms, Kristin’s awkward Toast face (face is awkward, toast was nice), Danielle measuring Kelly’s bump and some others.
Week 28 – Kelly’s Pittsburgh Baby Shower
Week 26
Week 25 – Part 3 – Construction
When Kelly and Kristin spent the weekend in Pittsburgh, Joe and Ardy stayed back and worked on the baby’s room getting up some crown molding, fixing the walls, putting up some chair rail. Prior to being the baby’s room, the room was Joe’s office since he worked from home for the last 5 years or so. This room had a treadmill that we never used, a few bookcases and tons and tons of junk. Here are some construction pics. We didn’t really do “construction” per say, but it was dirty.
